Ardem’s description puts emphasis on choosing a shelter, furnishing it and connecting it to electricity. Vehicles support travel and transporting useful materials. Frostrail gathers several of those functions into the train itself, which the player fuels, operates and expands. This difference is more informative than comparing invented base sizes or claiming that one system is deeper.
A return journey has a different meaning
In Ardem, the official description connects exploration to resources, vehicles and a world whose infrastructure can be changed. In Frostrail, an expedition takes you away from the train that carries your supplies and means of travel. Returning is therefore part of a relationship with a moving base.
